There are coaches who primarily care about winning and there are coaches who understand that youth sports can also be an opportunity to instill respect and develop important life skills.
After watching my son be repeatedly bullied by a soccer teammate one fall, and shoved by a baseball teammate the next spring, you can imagine how much I loved getting the email below at the beginning of the next baseball season:

Not only did my son’s team do well that season, the individual players improved a lot, and they did have great attitudes and support each other. They also felt great about everything they accomplished.
I can’t think of anything better than that.
